Product Info

CPU puzzle is a cleverly designed puzzle in which the the objective is to put the eight rods evenly back into the block once they have been removed.  All but one of the eight rods contain notches that prevent them from moving freely into the block, except when placed in the right position.

Original design of this puzzle was by Rocky Chiaro.  Designed as AB-L puzzle in 2004, and also known as the Magic Wands Puzzle.

I love the simple yet elegant look of this puzzle. The solution is fun as long as you don't pay attention to the pattern as it is disassembled and mix up the parts before reassembly. Some parts had a slight roughness when reinserted but overall nicely made. Looks great in the collection.

A decent challenge to reassemble and nice looking. I highly recommend not taking it apart really intentionally because you can just remember the pattern and it’s less satisfying to put it together. Mix up the pieces and then try it.

I greatly enjoyed working out the logic of this puzzle in particular. That was the most rewarding part.

I have to say I'm a bit disappointed in this one. The build quality is fine, and it looks nice enough... there's just very little to solve. It strikes me as more of a curiosity than a puzzle. It comes assembled, but it pretty much disassembles itself while held. Reassembly is just a matter of doing the disassembly in reverse. I could see it being slightly more challenging if you gave someone all the pins already extracted and jumbled up, but even then, there's a pretty obvious pattern that I wouldn't expect to take most people more than a few minutes to catch onto. I'm by no means an expert puzzler, but this was nowhere near a level 8 for me.
